New User Guide Local Software Licences

This page of the Wiki is relevant to people with a TUFLOW Local Software Lock licence.

  1. Download the latest executable and manual from the TUFLOW Website.
  2. Install Licensing Dongle Drivers (Codemeter RunTime Kit) on your computer.
  3. Obtain your software lock licence file from sales@tuflow.com by following these steps: Request Licence File.
  4. Import the licence to your computer.
  5. Double click the TUFLOW FV Executable (TUFLOWFV.exe). A DOS window should open prompting you to 'Enter input file:'. Ignore this request and hit the enter key to report the contents. Review the licence information listed (the licence types and numbers will be different to the example shown below).

    Note: TUFLOW licences are associated with the digital Software dongle. The Licence Update Request and Import steps listed above should only be required once annually to provide access to new major releases of the software (unless licence configuration changes are requested).
  6. You are now ready to start TUFLOW modelling. There are multiple options available to help you learn TUFLOW:
    1. TUFLOW FV Wiki Self-teach Tutorials
    2. TUFLOW FV Example Models
      This database includes over 60 example models demonstrating the most commonly used TUFLOW FV features. Use these models to learn how to implement features not explicitly covered in the Wiki Tutorials.
  7. Run TUFLOW FV using the options listed on the TUFLOW FV Run Options page.
  8. Other resources that may be useful include:
    • Other useful information is contained in the Wiki. In particular new users often find the Tips and Tricks section of the homepage useful.
